Love…

**

I’m sat drinking a refreshing drink of Pepsi,

I love the way the ice wrestles with the liquid, striving to stay alive, yet with every second its life is squeezed from it.

. . .’mesmerising!’. . .

I don’t actually love Pepsi!, it’s just the word I use to say “hey I like that!” It’s strange how the word ‘love’ has been stripped of its meaning, that, in most cases, it’s just a word of convenience!

“I love my new shoes!”. . .”I love my Sunday roast!”. . .”I love my bowl of porridge!”. . .”I love my toothpaste’!”. . .

How did this happen I wonder! You-see, there must have been a time when the word ‘love’ was used to mean something deeper!. . .

What if. . .

What if we were only allowed to use the word Love for its true meaning, I wonder how many times we would actually use the word!

What is love?

The dictionary says: to love is to have a great affection or liking. . .’yes’ but what about sex I hear you ask!. . .

Well, for now let us leave the lust side of love, and focus on the ‘great affection’ aspect. . .

you see, I was thinking the other day what does it mean to love someone with a sincere level of affection and liking.

I couldn’t find the answer so I turned to ‘The Book’, the one that has all the answers to life’s conundrums.

. . .’The Bible’. . .

Here’s what it said.

To those you sincerely love, you will:

  • Have patience towards them and you will be kind to them. .
  • you wont envy what others have or achieve, or be boastful or arrogant towards them. . .
  • you won’t be rude. or insist on getting your own way. . .
  • You wont become irritable or resentful of them or laugh when they suffer
  • You will be able to put up with other peoples annoying habits. . .

The ‘Good Book’ also says that love never ends. Not like fast cars, cool clothes or fancy gadgets, all of these will rust, break or be thrown away.

I’m guessing that when God created man and woman and then bound them together with love, there was a perfect, harmonious, united understanding. . .

Both man and woman wanted to please, honour and complement each other in their daily living and in an intimate way, putting the other persons needs first!.

All the ice has gone from my drink, I watched the last lazy cube drown in the dark viscous liquid, held within the glass confines of my drinking vessel, then, with one final gasp it gave up life, and drifted off to where all well-behaved ice cubes go!. . .

. . .’fascinating!’. . .

‘I digress’…

I’m know feeling the fringes of despair loitering at the edge of my forehead!. . .

Has love become par-sae?. . .has love really disintegrated into whimsical dreaming!. . .

Has the use of the word ‘love’, really been reduced to a ‘lukewarm bowl of porridge’ or ‘new shoes’ . . .

. . .’No!’. . .I don’t think it has!. . .

You see God is still the master of love, God is still loving the world giving the world what it least deserves but what it really needs!. . .

Me and you, we can both be extremely un-loveable at times, remember the last time you lost your temper and that time you bad-mouthed your friends?. . .

Well I know that God loves. . .& it is because of that great love that I can say to you. . .

. . .’I love you!’. .

As I sit here .writing this note. . .I know that I love you!. . .

I know that I haven’t seen you in a while but I can honestly say that I do love you. . .

I’m telling you the truth. . .

It is only because GOD loved me, and taught me How to love. . .that I can know tell you that I love you.

It’s getting busy in here!, so I’m going to have to vacate my table or buy another drink. . .

I have decided to leave! . . .

I have also decided to love more, to leave behind the things that make me un-lovable. . .

. . .It may take a while!. . .

I’m going to strive to remind myself daily that God, loves with a passion, I’m going to constantly remember that Jesus, loved me enough to die for me, and I’m going to keep reminding myself what true love is. . .& work at loving you even more!. . .

. . .Much Love.
